Models 220, 215, Model Year 2002 Odometer Setting

As of Model Year 2002 (Code 802), Models 220 and 215 are equipped with a redundant odometer memory, as known from Model 203. The odometer
reading is stored redundantly in both the Instrument Cluster (A1) and the Electronic Ignition Switch (N73). Dealers may now keep Model Year 2002
Model 220 and 215 Instrument Clusters in stock, as no PDC programming is necessary. Note this feature does not apply to earlier vehicles.

When replacing either component, the odometer reading must be transferred into the new component using the Star Diagnosis System. To transfer the
mileage from the Electronic Ignition Switch into a new Instrument Cluster, select "Information & Communication / ICM - Instrument Cluster / Control
Module Adaptations / Settings / Instrument Cluster Settings / Increase reading of total distance counter". The mileage transfer in the other case, from the
Instrument Cluster into a new EIS occurs automatically during EIS activation and version coding. Transfer can be verified from the Actual Values menu.

In the exceptional case where both the EIS and IC must be replaced at the same time, an Instrument Cluster with pre-programmed mileage must be
ordered, specifying both the VIN and odometer reading.

Please ensure that all Parts Department personnel are aware of this new feature.
