Replacement of Front Acceleration Sensors After a Frontal Collision
Two acceleration sensors are mounted on the radiator cross member to sense the severity of an impact and in addition to the signal from the control
module on the tunnel are used in the SRS triggering algorithm.
Warning!
To insure proper function of the airbag system and front acceleration sensors, please observe the following after a frontal collision:
The front acceleration sensors fastened to the left and right cross members should always be replaced following a frontal collision when:
-
sheet metal deformation is present in the mounting area of the front acceleration sensors
-
the front acceleration sensors are torn or damaged
Removal and installation instructions for the front acceleration sensors can be found in WIS Documents AR91.60-P-0750T for Model 211 and
AR91.60-P-0750MB for Models 215 and 220.
