Seat Backrest Stuck in Folded Position

If you receive customer reports in the above model vehicles of the seat backrest getting stuck in the folded position, this may be caused by the backrest
jamming due to using both the automatic and manual backrest adjustments at the same time. Follows the steps below to correct.

1. Pull the backrest firmly toward the rear of the vehicle.

2. If the backrest does not release, use Star Diagnosis to manually release the adjustment of the backrest angle by following the path: Control unit

groups -> Seats and doors -> ESA- FR/FL- Electric seat adjustment front right/left -> Electric seat adjustment(front right or left) -> Actuations ->
Backrest -> Backrest forward

3. Flash the seat control unit with software A216 442 12 11 or A216 442 13 11 as of DVD 07/08 using Star Diagnosis and following the path:

Control unit groups -> Seats and doors -> ESA- FR/FL- Electric seat adjustment front right/left -> Control unit adaptations -> control module
programming.
