HVAC Blower Delayed Operation on Start-up
If you receive customer reports in the above model vehicles of the HVAC blower not operating on start-up, the blower motor could be the cause. The
blower may start running after driving on a rough road surface. Please diagnose and repair as described below.
1.
Using Star Diagnosis read out fault memory in the climate system control module.
2.
If DTC 9516 is present, follow diagnostic information in Star Diagnosis. If measured values are within specification, do not replace the blower
regulator.
3.
Remove cover below instrument panel on the passenger side. Refer to WIS document AR68.10-P-1520SX.
4.
Turn the blower on. Using your hand, hit the bottom of the blower housing (Figure 1, circle) to try to start the blower. If hitting the housing causes
the blower to start, it confirms the blower is faulty.
5.
If the blower cannot be started by hitting the housing but the results from testing in Step 1 are within specifications, replace the blower motor.
Refer to WIS document AR83.10-P-1100SX.
Note:
Replacing the blower regulator will not correct this symptom.
