The TPM system can be reactivated in the following cases:

-

after a tire pressure change (e.g. by refilling) 

-

After each wheel or tire change

-

after assembling new wheels or tires

The adjusted air pressure values in the TPM [RDK] control unit (N88) are stored as specified monitoring values.

Note:

In normal application cases (wheel exchange or the driver adjusts new pressure values) filling detection automatically determines new
specified values.

The tire inflation pressure to be monitored can be determined manually by the driver "Reactivating" the tire pressure monitor via the operating menu
in the multifunction display. The temperature-compensated pressure thresholds for the warnings are established by means of pressure values at the
instant of reactivation.

Note:

Manual reactivation is only planned as a stopgap solution for critical application cases if automatic filling detection fails.

Description of operation

The TPM system is permanently operational is not actively controlled by the driver. Each time the interior CAN is woken up by "terminal 15 ON" the
TPM [RDK] control unit carries out a reinitialization and starts to transmit messages to the instrument cluster (A1).

Condition: adopting current pressure values as new specified values:

-

Pressure values filtered for 3 minutes

-

Detection of the wheel in question awaited

-

Plausibility check of pressure values carried out

-

Determination of specified pressure values carried out after a positive plausibility check

Conditions for reinitializing filling detection: 

-

"terminal 15 ON" after more than 3 minutes idle time

-

TPM wheel sensor reports a pressure change when the vehicle is stationary

-

New wheels on the vehicle in question found after the start of the journey
