Tire Pressure Monitor Antenna: Description and Operation
GF40.15-P-5125SX Wheel antenna, component description
MODELS 221 with CODE (475) Tire pressure monitor (Siemens)
The tire pressure monitor (RDK) assists the driver in checking tire pressures.
-
The left front TPM [RDK] wheel antenna and right front TPM [RDK] antenna are mounted in the front wheelhouses.
-
The central TPM [RDK] antenna is mounted on the left of the vehicle underbody under the rear seats.
Left front TPM [RDK] wheel antenna and right front TPM [RDK] antenna
Task
The left front and right front TPM wheel antenna convey a trigger pulse respectively following a request from the TPM [RDK] control unit (N88)
With these trigger pulses received from the TPM [RDK] control unit the location of the front wheels is carried out and thus enables the display of
wheel related pressures.
Function
The left front and right front TPM [RDK] wheel antenna are actuated by the TPM [RDK] control unit via a LIN bus in order to send out a trigger
signal. The spatial arrangement means that only one TPM wheel sensor can ever be requested by a trigger to set the "Trigger bit".
Central TPM [RDK] antenna
Task
The central TPM [RDK] antenna receives the following information from the left front TPM [RDK] wheel sensor (A69/1), from the right front
TPM [RDK] wheel sensor (A69/2), from the left rear TPM [RDK] wheel sensor (A69/3) and from the right rear TPM [RDK] wheel sensor
(A69/4):
-
The absolute pressure in the tire
-
The acceleration
-
The temperatures at the individual TPM wheel sensors
-
ID for identifying the wheel
Function
The information transmitted by a wireless signal is supplied to the TPM [RDK] control unit via a discreet line.
