Camshaft: Adjustments
Adjusting Basic Position of Camshafts

Remove
1
Remove camshaft bearing bridge
NOTE: Pay attention to slackening diagram.
DANGER:

Risk of injury to skin and eyes from handling hot or glowing objects.

Wear protective gloves, protective clothing and if necessary protective glasses.

Remove rocker arm spindle (3)
NOTE: If the rocker arm spindle (3) is not able to move easily in its bearings (damps), the camshaft bearing bridge must be heated.

Remove rocker arm (2)
NOTE: Pull out extraction drift diameter 15 mm.
Install

Check bearing surfaces of rocker arms for damage
NOTE: Pay attention to any longitudinal score marks owing to the expulsion of the rocker arm spindles (3).

If damage is present, Replace rocker arms (2).

Insert guide shaft into camshaft bearing bridge.
NOTE: At the same time preassemble the rocker arms (2) on the guide shaft.

Install rocker arm shaft (3)

If the rocker arm spindle (3) cannot be easily inserted in its bearings (clamps), the camshaft bearing bridge must be heated.

Heat the camshaft bearing bridge and remove the guide shaft with the rocker arm spindle (3).
