The messages are placed on the MOST and interpreted by the radio (A2), the radio and navigation unit (A2/56) or the COMAND operating, display and
control unit (A40/3).

CD playback

The audio data is stored digitally on the CD. In the CD player with changer (in glove compartment) (A2/6) the audio CD is driven by a motor. The
laser-optical device scans the unprinted side of the rotating audio CD without touching and converts the digital optical signals into electric signals. Small
missing points in the data stream of the laser-optical device (resulting from scratches or dirt on the audio CD) are interpolated and thereby compensated.
The electrical signals are then decoded in the CD player with changer (in glove compartment) (A2/6) and transmitted via MOST, dependent on the
equipment of the vehicle, to the COMAND operating, display and control unit (A40/3), the radio and navigation unit (A2/56), the radio (A2) or the
sound amplifier (A2/13).

Controlling CD player

The CD player with changer (in glove compartment) (A2/6) is controlled via the Media Oriented System Transport (MOST), dependent on the vehicle
equipment, by the following components:

The CD player with changer (in glove compartment) (A2/6) generates messages for the following operating states:

CD playback

The audio data is stored digitally on the CD. In the CD player with changer (in glove compartment) (A2/6), the audio CDs are driven by a motor, the
unprinted side of the rotating audio CD is scanned by the laser-optic device without contacting and the digital optical signals are converted into electrical
signals. Small gaps in the data stream of the laser-optical device (e.g. due to scratches, dirt) are later interpolated and thereby compensated.

The electric signals are then decoded in the CD player with changer (in glove compartment (A2/6) and transmitted via the MOST, depending upon the
vehicle equipment, to the audio gateway control unit (N93/1) or the sound amplifier (A2/13).
