Error limitation
If both error messages are still active both services could not be authorized. If only one error message is active, the corresponding service could not be
authorized.
Reading out fault codes.

Read out the fault codes of the D2B telephone and TELE AID transmitter/receiver (A35/17) by means of STAR DIAGNOSIS.

Compare chassis number stored in the D2B telephone and TELE AID transmitter/receiver (A35/17) with the chassis number in vehicle papers.

If errors on the vehicle and on the D2B telephone and TELE AID transmitter/receiver (A35/17) could be excluded, contact the Customer
Assistance Center (CAC).
The Customer Assistance Center (CAC) assist with the authorization of TELE AID. Chassis number and fault codes are required for this purpose.
Furthermore, it is checked whether the access authorization date of dealer and Customer Assistance Center (CAC) match. The Customer Assistance
Center (CAC) clarifies together with the dealer the error cause for the services (TELE AID emergency call/telediagnosis). Then authorization is
performed again.

With authorization the service provider authorizes triggering of the emergency call. This authorization is vehicle-related, not person- related.
An authorization is required in the following cases:

When starting up the system for the first time
^
When the vehicle owner changes
^
After expiration of a period of 3 months since the last authorization
The following is checked via the mobile telephone during the authorization:
^
the vehicle identification number (VIN),
^
if the system functions properly (position specification).
If a system is not authorized the emergency-call will not function.
If the system is not authorized, an E-call is not possible. The indicator lamp in the SOS pushbutton switch (S93/3) comes on and an error message
appears in the instrument cluster display.
Authorization at first-time startup
Authorization is accomplished via a telephone call to the E-CALL center
Authorization sequence
The Mercedes-Benz Service Station notifies the Mercedes-Benz Customer Assistance Center (CAC) about the date of the startup. There the transmission
for the authorization message for the corresponding vehicle is prepared. For authorization the transmitter key in the vehicle must be in (A8/1) position
"circuit 15R ON". The actual authorization is accomplished automatically and has a duration of approx. 2 min.
