Steering Shaft Coupler: Service and Repair
AR46.10-P-8000P Remove/Install Steering Coupling
DANGER:

Lethal injuries are possible if vehicle slips off of lifting platform

Align vehicle between the columns of the hydraulic hoist and position the four support plates below the hoist support points specified by
the vehicle manufacturer.

Move or push adjustable steering column all the way out
NOTE: Necessary for separation of steering coupling (25).

Switch off easy entry function for driver's seat and steering wheel

Vehicles with memory.
CAUTION:

Otherwise the driver's seat and steering wheel move to a different position, e.g. when the driver's door is opened or closed.

Damage to the upper frame can occur when the holding device is installed.
NOTE: It is switched off using the buttons on the steering wheel in the "Comfort" menu on the multifunction display, see vehicle owner's manual.

Turn steering wheel to center position (front wheels in straight-ahead position) and secure with holding device
CAUTION: The steering wheel must not be turned with the steering coupling (25) detached otherwise the contact spiral will be destroyed
4.1 Remove lower engine compartment paneling

4.2 Remove bottom section of sound-proofing capsule
