Function
The satellite signals received by the rear global positioning system (GPS) antenna (A2/23a2) are amplified in the integrated antenna amplifier.
The output signal is transferred to the GPS receiver via the coaxial antenna cable.
The GPS receiver is integrated into the:

APS navigation processor APS (A2/30) on vehicles with APS (code 351) or
-
radio and navigation unit (A2/56) on vehicles with Audio 30 APS (code 353)

COMAND operating, display and control module (A40/3) on vehicles with COMAND
NOTE: On model 140 up to 30.11.96 and model 210.0 up to 31.05.96 the GPS receiver was still located in a separate housing of the global positioning
system control module (GPS, N41/2).
The rear global positioning system (GPS) antenna (A2/23a2) serves only for receiving GPS signals; no signals are transmitted.
