Automatic flap control

The footwell flaps are opened depending on the following values

^

Blending air flap setting,

^

Coolant temperature,

^

Evaporator temperature

linear up to 100 % open.

Fresh air and recirculated air flap actuator motor (M2/5)

The fresh air flap/recirculated air flap actuator motor (M2/5) is used to close or open the fresh air supply by operating the fresh air flaps and recirculated
air flaps.
By pressing the recirculated air switch (N22/7s2) (<1.5 s) on the C- AAC [K-KLA] control and operating module (N22/7) the fresh air/ recirculated air
flaps actuator motor (M2/5) is actuated via the AC bus.
For recirculated air mode the fresh air supply is closed. Air is drawn in by the blower motor from the vehicle interior into the AC housing.
For fresh air mode the fresh air supply is open. Fresh air is drawn into the AC housing by the blower motor.

With manual actuation of the recirculated air switch (N22/7s2), the system immediately switches to 100 % recirculated air mode, which has a time limit.
This is displayed by the LED

Time limit function:

^

for 30 minutes at outside temperatures above approx. 7 °C,

^

for 5 minutes at outside temperatures below approx. 7 °C,

^

for 5 minutes with AC OFF.

After ignition ON, a non-recurring 100 % automatic recirculated air is possible for 30 minutes. After expiry of this period the system switches to 80 %
recirculated air or fresh air, depending upon the conditions.

With Model 209.4, when driving with the soft top open, the system switches to 100 % fresh air. When the recirculated air switch (N22/7s2) is actuated
manually, only the LEDs are actuated.

Switching off recirculated air function:

^

by pressing the recirculated air switch (N22/7s2) again.

^

by activating the defrost function,

^

through ignition OFF,

^

through expiry of the timeout,

^

through switching to AC OFF or

^

by switching off the blower (position 0).

Automatic control of the fresh air and recirculated air flaps via the outside temperatures

When outside temperatures are high >20 °C recirculation is automatically varied from 0 % to 80 % or 100 % in order to cool the vehicle interior more
quickly or to reduce the cooling output demand. After a time limit of 30 minutes has expired, the system automatically switches down from 100 % to a
maximum of 90 % recirculated air.

Automatic control of the fresh air flaps and recirculated air flaps via the C-AAC [K-KLA] multifunction sensor (B31)

If the actual pollutant concentration present outside the vehicle
determined by the C-AAC [K-KLA] multifunction sensor (B31) is above an assumed, mean interior air quality the system goes over to 80 % or 100 %
recirculated air. As soon as the pollutant concentration present outside the vehicle is below the assumed, mean interior air quality again, the system is
operated with fresh air again (exceptions: recirculated air switched manually; automatic recirculated air due to high outside temperature).

Activated charcoal filter flap adjustment motor (A32m2)

The activated charcoal filter flap adjustment motor (A32m2) actuates the activated charcoal filter flap to route the air flow through the activated charcoal
filter.
By pressing the activated charcoal filter button (LED illuminated) on the C-AAC [K-KLA] control and operating module (N22/7) the activated charcoal
filter flap adjustment motor (A32m2) is actuated via the AC bus. This means that the activated charcoal filter flap in the AC housing is closed, as a result
of which the air drawn in by the blower motor (A32m1) cannot avoid being drawn through the two activated charcoal filters and cleaned.
