Location

The activated charcoal filter shutoff valve is located at the activated charcoal canister vent connection.

Task

Open ventilation of the activated charcoal canister or close for leak test of regeneration system.

Design

Solenoid which opens the valve when energized. Coil resistance around 15 Ohms, 2-pole plug connection. A mechanical safety valve is also installed.

Function

When ignition ON, the valve is actuated by the motor electronics control unit at the ground end and opens. The voltage supply is performed by terminal
87. If the closed valve jams, a safety valve opens as of approx. -25 mbar and ventilates the fuel tank.
