CAUTION:  Do not connect quiescent current retention unit, otherwise the control modules could be defective.

Move or press adjustable steering column completely toward bottom.

Remove cover below instrument panel

Unscrew rosette (36a) with claw-type wrench (020) out of instrument panel bottom section

Unscrew screws (1)

NOTE:  Carefully pull paneling downward, so that the electronic ignition switch control module (N73) can be taken out more easily.

Remove electronic ignition switch control module (N73)

Take out ignition switch cable (36h)

Vehicles with automatic transmission.

NOTE:  For this step press together retaining clamps (arrows) and extend ignition switch cable (36h) to the front out of the retaining lugs.

Disconnect electrical connectors

NOTE:  4 ea.

Install in the reverse order
