The status of the left steering wheel gear shifter (S110/2) and right steering wheel gear shifter (S111/2) is read by the steering column module (N80)
via Local Interconnect Network (LIN). The steering column module (N80) places the signal "Upshift" or "Downshift" on the Controller Area Network
bus class C (engine compartment) (CAN-C).

The ETC [EGS] control unit (N15/3) receives the request and initiates the gear change.

Gear changes which could result in impermissibly high or low engine speeds are not performed.
