Connect an external playback device such as an MP3 player to the Walkman interface (X39/45) and switch the device to "Play".

Switch on radio or radio and navigation unit (depending on vehicle equipment) and activate the "AUX" function in the basic audio menu by
pressing and holding down the "AUX" softkey.

The initial startup is complete when the audio that is being played on the connected playback device can be heard as soon as the "AUX" function
is activated.
