Engine Noise

If you receive customer reports in the above model vehicles equipped with engine 113.960, 113.967, 113.963 or 113.968 of engine ticking (piston slap
like sound) noise complaints when accelerating between 1200 and 3000 rpm, please perform the following remedy.

Remove the original motor mounts, part no.230 240 00 17 (SL500), 220 240 06 17 (in CLK500 and S500) and replace them with motor mounts, part no.
220 240 27 17. Reset the flywheel adaptation.

For E500 a modified motor mount, part no.211 240 05 17, is installed as of chassis no. A224352. On vehicles prior to this chassis no., remove part no.
230 240 00 17 and replace with part no. 211 240 05 17.

Reset the flywheel adaptation.

Note: 

On vehicles E500 (211.070), warranty claims will only be accepted from vehicles with chassis no. A224352 and lower.
