Remove/Install Control Unit With Ignition Unit (Xenon Headlamps)

DANGER:

-

Risk of Death. High voltage at Xenon headlamps may result in death.

-

Do not touch parts carrying high voltages.

-

Persons with electronic implants (e.g. pacemakers) should never work on xenon headlamps.

-

Risk of explosion from explosive gas. Risk of poisoning and caustic burns from swallowing battery electrolyte. Risk of injury with caustic
burns to eyes and skin from battery electrolyte or from handling damaged lead-acid batteries 

-

No fire, sparks, naked flames or smoking.

-

Wear acid-resistant gloves, clothing and goggles. Pour battery electrolyte only into suitable and appropriately marked containers.

Disconnect ground cable of battery

Remove left (E1), right (E2) front headlamp unit

Unscrew screws (1)

Remove Xenon headlamp control module (E1n1, E2n1)

NOTE: Xenon headlamp ignition module cannot be replaced separately

Install in the reverse order

Perform basic programming

NOTE: Only if no quiescent current retention device has been used.

Read diagnostic trouble code memory and erase

Check for proper function
