Wheel Bearing: Component Tests and General Diagnostics

AR33.20-P-0310-02P Inspect tapered roller bearing and bearing races

Check tapered roller bearing and races for the following criteria:

The tapered rollers and bearing races must have a smooth, gray contact surface.

^

No discoloration (e.g. severe heat formation)

^

Check roller cage and end faces of tapered rollers for damage

^

Tight seating of bearing races in the wheel hub

If the tapered roller bearing and races are not discolored or damaged, they can be reused.

Always replace taper roller bearings and bearing races as a pair.
