AR35.30-P-0660-03AF Inner constant-velocity joint - Dismantling, inspecting for wear, assembly

- Bolted rear axle

Dismantle constant velocity joint

Mark relative positions of joint ring, joint hub and ball retainer before dismantling using electric scriber or whetting stone.

Swivel joint hub and ball retainer and remove individually.

Remove joint hub and ball retainer from joint ring.

Swivel joint hub toward ball cage by 90 degrees and remove.

Clean all parts.

Check constant velocity joint

Check joint ring, joint hub, ball retainer ball raceways and ball bearings for depressions (pitting) and traces of wear (arrows).

If these parts exhibit major signs of wear, then the complete constant velocity joint must be replaced. Smoothing and marking, caused by the balls,
are not a reason to replace the constant velocity joint.
