Activation of entire system

By inserting the transmitter key (A8/1) into the EIS [EZS] control unit (N73) position 0 "circuit 15C OFF" the bus systems are activated for 3 minutes to
ensure a fast switch-on procedure. If the radio (A2) is switched on by pressing the ON button (ON/OFF), an automatic switch-off takes place after 30
minutes.

Turning the transmitter key to position 1 "circuit 15R ON" switches on the radio, if it was switched on before the transmitter key was last removed. It
remains on, until the transmitter key is removed. The function options are limited to:

If the transmitter key is set to position 2 (ignition ON), then all vehicle functions are operational. The system that was active just before the last
shutdown, e.g. radio is switched on. The corresponding basic menu is displayed. If the radio has been switched off for longer than 30 minutes, a warning
menu appears with general instructions on using the system.

If when starting the engine (transmitter key set to position 3, start) a major voltage drop occurs, then the radio is switched off and switched on again
automatically after the on-board electrical system has stabilized.

Switch-on characteristic when actuating the ON button (ON/ OFF)

The radio can also be switched on when the transmitter key has been pulled out by pressing the ON button. All MOST (Media Oriented Systems
Transport) bus functions are available after pressing the ON button for 30 minutes during the run-on time. The radio switches off automatically once this
time has elapsed.

If after 30 min a switch off has taken place, the radio can be switched back on again by pressing the ON button. The 30 min cycle starts up again from
the beginning.

On/Off characteristics via AUTO-ON

As a result of an incoming telephone call or an incoming SMS, the Universal Portable CTEL Interface (UPCI [UHI]) control unit (N123/1) is activated
during the run-on time and it initiates the sending of a wake-up pulse over the MOST bus.

The system components are then "woken up", and the MOST system goes operational in order to provide the required functions.

Switching off takes place either via the ON button (ON/OFF) or by removing the transmitter key when in position 0 "circuit 15C OFF". An active phone
call is not interrupted by removing the transmitter key. In this case, the MOST bus system automatically switches itself off.

The radio is switched off when removing the transmitter key in position 0 "circuit 15C OFF" from the EIS [EZS] control unit. The radio is always in
"stand-by mode", when the CAN-B (Controller Area Network bus Class B (interior)) is active.

Switch off characteristics at undervoltage

The radio battery voltage is constantly monitored. Depending on the battery voltage the radio will behave as follows:

The warning range of the battery voltage is 9.5 V up to 11.5 V

If the battery voltage drops below 11.5 V, a message appears in the display and requests that the engine be started.

If the engine is not started, then after 3 minutes another warning is issued, stating that roughly 10 seconds remain before the engine is to be
switched on or the device will be automatically switched off.

By starting the engine any automatic switch-off is prevented. If the radio has switched off and the voltage again rises to above 11.5 V, the radio does not
switch back on automatically.

If a system has been shut down it can still be switched back on again manually. The warning procedure remains active as long as the battery voltage is
from 9.5 V to 11.5 V.

If the battery voltage drops to less than 9.5 V (undervoltage), the radio is automatically set to a defined standby condition. The current operating
condition is stored and only the battery voltage monitoring remains active. In this condition the radio can no longer be operated or sensed using a
diagnosis tool. Communication with external components does not take place.
