Component Identification

Location

The heating system heat exchanger is located in the A/C housing behind the instrument panel.

Task

The heating system heat exchanger warms the air flow, which is directed to the vehicle interior via the various defroster, ventilation and heater vents.

Function

Heated coolant flows through the heating system heat exchanger after a heating request. The flow is controlled by the heat exchanger shutoff motor
(M16/32).

The heat is conducted to the outside via the coiled pipes and lamella. This in turn warms the passing air flow, which is directed to the vehicle interior via
the various defroster, ventilation and heater vents.
