Daytime running lamp function in the instrument cluster activated
In a few national versions, the daytime running lamp function is preset in the instrument cluster by the factory because of legal requirements and cannot
be disabled.
Function
The driver-side SAM control unit passes the request for "Standing lamp and Low beam On" onto the CAN-B and at the same time actuates the left
standing and parking lamp as well as the left low beam of the left front lamp unit (E1).
The front passenger-side SAM control unit actuates the right standing and parking lamp as well as the right low beam of the right front lamp unit (E2).
The rear SAM control unit actuates the taillamps of the left taillamp (E3) and the right taillamp (E4) as well as the left license plate lamp and the right
license plate lamp.
The daytime running lamps have a higher priority compared to the automatic driving lamps.
In countries with statutory daytime running light regulations in daytime running lamps mode only the headlamp flasher is permitted, but not the high
beam. The high beam is only permissible if the driving lamps have been switched on manually via the exterior lamp switch.
