Actuation

The MB-Info and breakdown assistance button group (S93/6) can be used to trigger an MB information call or a roadside assistance call. To trigger a
call, press the roadside assistance call button (with wrench icon on it) or the MB information call button (with letter "i" on it). If the MB-Info and
breakdown assistance button group is pressed for longer than 0.5 s, the system is activated. Activation of the system is indicated by the corresponding
LED flashing in the MB-Info and breakdown assistance button group. Regardless of the type of request, the MB-Info and breakdown assistance button
group is read in by the emergency call system control unit (N123/4) over a discrete line. The emergency call system control unit automatically completes
a voice connection to the service center.

Generation of MB-Info call telegram

The user activates this service by pressing the MB-Info and breakdown assistance button group. If this service is authorized and a higher priority service
is not active, the emergency call system control unit sends an SMS to the service -center. The SMS contains the following data:

Transmission of MB-Info call telegram

In the event of a service call (MB information calls or roadside assistance calls) any currently active telephone connections are interrupted. The
emergency call system control unit sends an SMS to the nearest service center and at the same time always establishes a telephone connection to the
service center.

Normally, the telephone connection is established through the telephone antenna (A2/49a1), which is on the roof of the vehicle. In case of a defective
telephone antenna, e.g. after a rollover, 2 backup antennas are available in the rear bumper of the vehicle, which essentially comprise the emergency call
system antenna splitter (A2/25), the emergency call system left backup antenna (A2/54) and the emergency call system right backup antenna (A2/55).
The emergency call system control unit detects the antenna failure and then automatically actuates the backup antennas.
