Component Identification
Function sequence
The driver-side SAM control unit reads in the position of the "left parking lamp" or "right parking lamp" exterior lamp switch and forwards the
corresponding signal over CAN-B to the rear SAM control unit or passenger-side SAM control unit.
Left parking lamp
The driver-side SAM control unit actuates the left standing and parking lamp in the left front lamp unit (E1) and simultaneously transmits the "left
parking lamp On" signal to the rear SAM control unit over the CAN-B.
The rear SAM control unit actuates the outer left taillamp, parking lamp, rear fog lamp in the left taillamp (E3).
Right parking lamp
The driver-side SAM control unit forwards the "right parking lamp On" signal over CAN-B to the front passenger-side SAM control unit and the rear
SAM control unit.
The front passenger-side SAM control unit actuates the right standing and parking lamp in the right front lamp unit (E2), and the rear SAM control unit
actuates the outer right taillamp, parking lamp, rear fog lamp in the right taillamp (E4).
With United States of America and Canada vehicles, the central gateway control unit (N93) has to be preprogrammed for the particular country.
