CLS 55 AMG (219.376) V8-5.5L SC (113.990) (2006)
Location
The front passenger seat occupied recognition sensor is integrated in the seat cushion of the front passenger seat.
Task
The seat occupied recognition recognizes whether or not the front passenger seat i occupied by a person.
Function
If the front passenger seat is occupied by a person, the pressure load of the seat area increases. This pressure is recorded by the foil pressure sensors that
are integrated in the seat cushion and relayed to the restraint systems control unit (N2/7).
In vehicles up to 31.5.07, this then activates or deactivates the relevant restraint systems at the front passenger side.
In vehicles as of 1.6.07, this information does not influence airbag deployment. The front passenger seat occupied recognition system only acts as a front
passenger seat occupied/unoccupied switch for the seat belt reminder warning.
