Component Identification

The steering angle sensor (N49) is integrated into the steering column module (N80). The steering column module is located on the steering column
behind the steering wheel in the interior compartment.

Component Identification

Task

The steering angle sensor records the position of the steering wheel and provides the steering column module with an electrical voltage signal that is
proportional to the voltage signal. The steering column module transmits the data via the CAN-B (interior) and CAN-C (engine compartment) to the
ESP control unit (N47-5) and the AIRmatic with ADS control unit (N51).

It is no longer necessary to perform initialization after the battery has been disconnected (circuit 30 off) for new generation steering angle sensors.
