Component Identification

Check oil level at room temperature only and not when rear axle differential is warm. Oil which is otherwise needed might flow out when the rear axle
center assembly is hot.

Clean area around oil filler screw (50 g).

Remove oil filler screw (50 g)

Replace oil filler screw (50g).

If necessary collect oil running out and allow to run out until oil only drips out of opening.

Check oil level.

The rear axle center assembly is not filled properly if the oil reaches the upper edge of the oil filler hole. If necessary refill with hypoid gear oil.

A mixture of old and new hypoid gear oil would not affect the basic functions on the rear axle gear such as wear resistance, leak tightness etc. A
premixing however should be avoided because of the fuel-economy behavior.

Apply Loctite(R) 7063 cleaning spray to a rag and clean the new oil filler screw and tapped hole in the rear axle center assembly.

The oil filler screw and threaded hole must be free from oil and grease.

Apply about one droplet of Omnifit(R) 100H sealing compound on the second or third lower thread.

Immediately screw oil filler screw into rear axle center assembly and tighten.
