Parking Brake Cable: Service and Repair
RA42001240525X Remove/Install Rear Brake Control Cable

Removal and installation of rear brake control cable 

Preceding work:

Remove brake shoes for parking brake (42-0530).
Remove rear exhaust heat shield (49-0100).

Remove rear exhaust heat shield.

-

Unhook return spring (94) on holder (95).

-

Turn adjustment screw (89) back on adjustment bracket (87).

-

Remove front brake control cable (85) on intermediate lever (91).  Replace self-locking hex. head bolt (93).

-

Unhook intermediate lever (91) on mount (88) on frame floor.

-

Unhook brake control cables (86) on lever (92).

-

Remove spring clip (84). Pull brake control cable (86) out of holder (95).

-

Remove spreader lock (109) by pulling out pin (114).

-

Screw self-locking hex. head bolt (98) out on wheel carrier.  When installing use new self-locking hex. head bolt.  Remove brake control cable
(86).

-

Adjust parking brake after installing rear brake control cable.
