Camshaft: Testing and Inspection
NOTE: Numbers in parentheses ( ) indicate a component or tool in the associated illustration.

Position piston of cylinder 1 to ignition TDC
CAUTION:

Turn engine at crankshaft.

Do not turn engine backward or at the camshaft.

Lock inlet camshaft by inserting the retaining pin (1) through camshaft bearing cap 1 into the hole (A) in the inlet camshaft near (2).

Check basic position of camshafts
The two 0 1.5 mm holes (8) in the camshaft gears (2, 5) must be opposite each other.
If necessary after checking, adjust basic position of camshafts. See: Adjustments
