Cruise Control Switch: Description and Operation
Task
-
Switching cruise control mode on or off > 40 km/h
-
Increasing or reducing the vehicle speed in cruise control mode
-
Supplying signal to engine control unit
Function
When the cruise control switch (S40) is operated, two contacts in the switch are always operated at the same time. The actual input is performed
by closing one contact, which is required for storing the speed.
The safety contact must close at the same time, however, if this input is to be accepted by the engine control module and recognized as an
intentional operation on the part of the driver. This counteracts any unintentional influencing of the cruise control in the event of a fault (e.g. fault
in cable harness).
