The thermostat on the rear of the mirror glass measures the temperature of the mirror glass.

At a mirror glass temperature of <= 15 °C the mirror defroster is switched on by the thermostat.

Upon reaching a mirror glass temperature >= 25 °C the mirror defroster is switched off by the thermostat.

The mirror defroster continues to be switched on and off until the mirror glass temperature remains >= 15 °C.
The mirror defroster receives power from the front driver-side door control module (N69/1) and front passenger-side door control module (N69/2).
