Air Door Actuator / Motor: Description and Operation
Vacuum Element For Blend Flap

Purpose 
The blend flap vacuum elements actuate the blend flaps (air from the heater core) for control of the air to the center nozzle.

Design 
The blend flap vacuum elements are designed as single stage vacuum elements.

Function 
The blend flap vacuum elements (42, 47) are automatically controlled by the A/C push-button control module (N22) via the switchover valve block
(Y11).
When open vacuum is present at the blend flap vacuum elements (42, 47). The blend flaps are opened momentarily when changing over from air
conditioning to heating mode or vice versa (mode change). In this manner the temperature of the air coming out of the center nozzle changes slowly
providing more comfortable regulation of the temperature in the vehicle passenger compartment.
