Lower Steering Shaft With Joint Fork And Collapsible Tubing (5-, 6- And 8-Cylinder Engines)

Rotate lower steering shaft (80a) until the joint fork points downwards as illustrated or the flats on the bolt-on flange are upright.
NOTE: The double flat section for the steering coupling is now horizontal and the groove for the fixing bolt of the steering coupling is on the
right-hand side.

Turn lower steering shaft (80a) until the groove (80l) for the fixing bolt of the steering coupling is horizontal on the right-hand side and the reset
cam for the combination switch points to the left (arrow).

NOTE: The following is to be observed for the separate light-alloy steering shaft:

The position of the inner slide (80l) relative to the outer slide (80k) is determined by an offset tooth and therefore the parts must not be
assembled using force.

It must be possible to slide the inner slide (80l) easily in the longitudinal direction.
