Front Strut / Shock Tower: Service and Repair
AR62.10-P-0006-01E Replace reinforcement of spring mount at front left and right
Repair Materials
1. Clean installation surfaces on vehicle body.
2. Fit reinforcement (1) positively and fix in place with clamping pliers.
3. Drill dia. 4 mm pilot holes for rivets (areas A and B).
4. Drill dia. 6.7 mm rivet holes (areas A and B).
5. Remove reinforcement (1).
6. Deburr rivet holes on both sides.
7. Grind mating surfaces on cutouts for reinforcement (1) and vehicle body down to bare metal in cross-hatched areas with round wire brush.
8. Coat insides of riveted joints with zinc dust paint.
9. Install reinforcement (1) and fix in place with manual temporary fasteners.
10. Rivet reinforcement (1) on front spring mount with 6.5 x 12. 5 steel/steel blind rivet (areas C and D).
11. Reinforcement (1) (continuous weld) (area E).
12. Prime welding surfaces.
