Using driver tool No. 140 589 10 15 00 (032c), or equivalent, replace radial seal ring (032), coat outside diameter and sealing lip with suitable
hypoid or universal hypoid gear oil

Check and adjust axial play of connecting flange as follows:

-

Check axial play between connecting flange (33) and differential side gear (17)

-

The axial play must be within the specified tolerance range of 0.003-0.30 mm

-

If necessary, fit a locking ring (30a) of greater or lesser thickness

-

Locking rings are available in thicknesses ranging from 1.4 mm to 2.7 mm in 0.05 mm graduations

-

Install NEW locking ring

-

Clean rear cover sealing surface and coat with Hylomar sealing compound part No. 001 989 25 20, or equivalent

-

Install NEW collared screws (56b) for rear cover, tighten to 50 Nm

-

Install NEW rear axle vent (55), then tighten to 30 Nm

-

Fill differential with 1.2 liters of suitable differential fluid
