System behavior when pressing the ON/OFF button

When the transmitter key (A8/1) is removed, the radio (A2) can also be switched on by pressing the "ON" button (ON/OFF) on the rotary switch. All
MOST functions are then available for 30 minutes. The system switches off automatically once this time has elapsed.
If the system has switched off after 30 minutes, the system can be switched on again by pressing the ON button. The cycle of 30 minutes then starts from
the beginning.

On/Off characteristics via AUTO-ON

As a result of an incoming telephone call or SMS, the telecommunications control unit (N112) or telephone interface (A34/4) is activated during the
run-on time and sends a wake-up pulse via the MOST.

The system components are then "woken up"; the MOST system is operational in order to provide the required functions.

The system is either switched off with the ON button (ON/OFF) or by removing the transmitter key (A8/1).
An active phone call is not interrupted by removing the transmitter key (A8/1). In this case, the MOST system switches itself off.

Switch off characteristics

The radio (A2) is switched off when the transmitter key (A8/1) "circuit 15C OFF" is removed from the electronic ignition switch (EIS) control unit
(N73).
The radio (A2) is always in stand-by mode when the CAN-C (interior) is active.

Switch off characteristics at undervoltage

The control electronics in the radio (A2) continuously monitor the battery voltage. Depending on the voltage value the system will act as follows:

The battery voltage is 9.5 to 11.5 V (warning range):

If the battery voltage drops below 11.5 V, a message appears in the display and requests that the engine be started.

If the engine is not started, then a further warning follows after 3 minutes that approx. 10 seconds remain for starting the engine before the device
switches off.

In this case switching on the engine prevents the system from being automatically shut down. If the system has switched off and the voltage then again
increases to above 11.5 V, the COMAND system does not switch back on automatically.

If a system has been shut down it can be switched back on again manually. The warning procedure recurs each time anew until the fault has been
rectified.

Battery voltage below 9.5 V (undervoltage)

The radio (A2) is automatically put in a defined standby condition, in which only the battery voltage is monitored. In addition to this the current
operating status is stored. The audio system cannot be operated in this state, nor can it be accessed from the STAR Diagnosis tool. Communication
with external components does not take place.

Navigation system activation

When the driver's door is open, the navigation system is activated automatically via the engine compartment CAN (CAN-C). This process lasts for
approximately t = 2 s and may be accompanied by faintly audible noises from the DVD-ROM drive integrated in the navigation processor. The display
of the COMAND operating, display and control module (A40/3) remains switched off. If, as a result of this, no status change occurs at the electronic
ignition switch control unit (N73) - "Circuit 15C or 15R ON" - the navigation processor remains activated for t = 30 min. This is followed by an
automatic cutout.

With code (529) HIGH Class Japan the navigation processor is integrated in the COMAND operating, display and control unit (A40/3).
