GF07.04-P-6110T Component Description For The Catalytic Converter Temperature Sensor

- except CODE (494) USA version
- except CODE (498) Japan version

Component Identification

Location

The TWC temperature sensor is located on the oxidation catalytic converter above.

Task

The TWC temperature sensor detects the current exhaust gas temperature upstream of the oxidation catalytic converter and transmits an appropriate
signal to the CDI control unit (N3/9).

Design

The CAT temperature sensor consists of a metal housing with a positive temperature coefficient (PTC) precision resistor and a 2-pin plug connector.

Function

The PTC precision resistor integrated in the CAT temperature sensor changes its electrical resistance according to the exhaust temperature. Electrical
resistance increases as temperature increases.
