Complaint:

Engine diagnosis warning lamp lights up.

Note:

FC 2633-001 is stored in the engine control unit.

Cause:

Positive limit of HFM-SFI drift compensation exceeded.

Note:

The components analyzed on the vehicle, clean air line, mass air flow sensor, engine control units, leakage, etc. are OK.

Remedy:

If leaks are found:

^ Check entire air ducting system (Intake air line/air filter box/clean air line) for leaks/correct installation

^ Check all sealing points, especially the turbocharger seal, for damage and/or incorrect installation

In case of faults at electrical connections:

^ Check connector for proper seating and engagement

^ Check pins on plugs and sockets (pin bent back or damaged, corrosion of pins due to moisture ingress)

^ Disconnect and reconnect connector

Note:

In the case of electrical faults, in DAS there is now a second loop in the electric check: i.e. after the first check, the fault should be erased and the check
then repeated with the same component. Only after the second loop returns a not OK result should the HFM be replaced!

In case of vehicles operated in difficult conditions with heavily fouled air filters, replace the air filter elements.

After replacing the air filter elements, reset the learned values for the air filter contamination.

(DAS menu CDI 4/5/6 control unit/Control unit adaptation/Reset air filter learned values).

If the checks listed above revealed faults in the system and these have been rectified, always reset the HFM drift compensation.

If the FC is still present after the aforementioned test steps, the engine control unit must be programmed with new software as of DAS DVD 07/09
(AddOn # 1252) (software object number: A 642 902 8300, SW release 29/2009).
