The telecommunications control unit (N112) can be coded with STAR DIAGNOSIS so that the state display does not come on even when the system is
not authorized (all other system errors are nonetheless indicated). The dealer must have the customer confirm deactivation of the state display in writing
using a preprinted form.

In the event of a crash the system operates automatically! The system is activated manually by pushing the SOS switch (S93/3s1). This can be the case in
emergency situations of if an accident is observed. Activation of the emergency call system is shown by the flashing red light emitting diode (LED) in the
SOS switch. If there is no answer from the occupants when the emergency center calls the vehicle, a search and rescue mission by the local emergency
team is started immediately. If the emergency call system is unable to connect to the emergency call center, or if the subscriber identification module
(SIM) card is not authorized, the system automatically calls the police emergency number "911" and attempts to set up a handsfree connection. In such
an event, data transfer does not take place using the Short Message Service (SMS).

SOS switch

The SOS switch is covered with a protective lid labeled in red. The lid is labeled "SOS". Pressing the protective lid unlocks the lid, and it automatically
opens with the aid of a spring mechanism. Pressing the SOS switch for longer than 0.5 s activates the system.

MB-Info and breakdown assistance button group (S93/6)

The MB-Info and breakdown assistance button group is located on the center console. The system is activated by pressing the MB Info and breakdown
assistance button group for longer than 0.5 s. Activation of the system is indicated by the flashing LED in the buttons. Pressing a button in the MB-Info
and breakdown assistance button group automatically sends a message via SMS.

While the SMS is transmitted, a telephone connection to the service center is set up.
