Sensotronic Brake Control (SBC) Bleeding Procedure

Note: 

For Information Only

On the above model vehicles, the SBC brake system must be bled with the menu-assisted STAR Diagnosis after the replacement or removal/installation
of the following components: SBC hydraulic unit (A713), Brake Operating Unit, Suction Line, Pressure Reservoir, Brake Lines, Brake Fluid Reservoir,
Brake Hoses, or Brake Calipers (Reference WIS documents AH42.10-P-0002-O1T and AR42.10-P-0012R). When performing repair work on a
Sensotronic Brake Control (SBC) system, it is imperative that the brake system only be bled with Mercedes-Benz approved Brake Bleeders. The SBC
bleeding procedure requires that the filling and bleeding unit must maintain a constant pressure of greater than or equal to 2 bar and < 3.5 bar. In
conjunction with the approved brake bleeder, the electrohydraulic brake adapter (EHB) tool must also be utilized in order to ensure that the brake fluid
receptacle bleeding hose is securely affixed to the brake caliper's bleeder screw (Reference WIS document AR42.10-P-0010-02R).

Warning! 

The SBC filling and bleeding unit pressure must not exceed 3.5 bar.

Note: 

Follow all instructions and test sequences listed within STAR Diagnosis prior to bleeding the SBC system.

Warning! 
If the brake system has been opened, then the brakes must be bled and checked for air using STAR Diagnosis Bleed Brake System" and Inspect Brake
System For Air" functions before the brake system is activated again. This must be done regardless of what other operations were performed on the brake
system. Failure to do so can lead to malfunctions of the brake system.

Warning! 

Air contained in the brake lines reduces brake performance and can lead to malfunctions of the SBC system.

Brake System For Air".
