Once Recall Campaign number 2004050014, has been performed on the vehicles listed below, it is imperative that all subsequent Sensotronic Brake
Control (SBC) diagnostics and/or repairs be performed only with STAR Diagnosis software 09/2004 with patch 2004-09-23-295 or later software
releases. As of 10/2004 STAR Diagnosis software will include patch 2004-09-23-295.

On vehicles listed below, it is imperative that all Sensotronic Brake Control (SBC) diagnostics and or repairs be performed with only STAR Diagnosis
software 09/2004 with patch 2004-09-23-295 or later software releases. As of 10/2004 STAR Diagnosis software will include patch 2004-09-23-295.

Warning!

Failure to use the proper software level may result in erroneous Sensotronic Brake Control (SBC) diagnostics.

Note:

To ensure that all users of the STAR Diagnosis System are informed of the above warning, a label bearing the following text will be provided to all
dealers:

NOTICE:

All Sensotronic Brake Control (SBC) diagnosis and/or repair must be performed utilizing STAR Diagnosis DAS software 09/2004 with the
2004-09-23-295 patch installed (or later DAS release) or erroneous diagnosis may occur. As of DAS release 10/04 the 2004-09-23-295 patch is
included within the DAS software.

Each dealer will be provided (via Fed-Ex distribution) enough labels to affix one per STAR Diagnosis System within the workshop. Extra labels will
also be sent for future use as well as a sticker fitment guide to aid in the proper placement of this label. Please ensure that when you receive these
labels that they are affixed immediately as per the fitment guide.

Note: 

All replaced SBC hydraulic units must be returned to the Quality Evaluation Center (QEC) indicated by NetStar parts disposition. Each returned
SBC hydraulic unit must include a printout of the result of the STAR Diagnosis test Check operating time of component A7/3 (SBC hydraulic unit)".
In order to obtain a printout navigate through the following STAR Diagnosis menus: [Control Units --> Chassis --> Sensotronic Brake Control (SBC)
--> General Servicing --> Check Operating Time Of Component A7/3 (SBC Hydraulic Unit)]. Warranty claims filed for Sensotronic Brake, after
10/26/2004, without the required STAR Diagnosis printouts will be debited and the corresponding parts will be sent back to the dealer.
