Electrical - Under Voltage Switch Off Consumers Message

Consumer Shutoff Displayed in Instrument Cluster While Driving

If you receive customer reports on the above model vehicles of the message "Under voltage, switch off consumers" appearing in the Instrument Cluster
(IC) while driving the vehicle, please verify the below possible causes. Several causes may exist which may lead to this IC message appearing while
driving:

Loose / broken poly v-belt, inspect per AP13.22-P-13512.

^

Loose battery terminals.

^

Loose screw connections at the Battery Control Module (BCM).

^

Insufficient alternator power output.

Check the following possible causes prior to replacing any control modules:

1)

Check threaded connections of terminals on battery (G1) posts:

a.

Clean battery terminals, removing any signs of corrosion.

b.

Protect battery terminals from corrosion with terminal grease.

c.

Tighten bolts on terminals to the specified torque (7 Nm).

Note:

Corrosion on the battery terminals may cause excessive resistance on the battery posts, in turn triggering the Battery Control Module (BCM) to
falsely enter consumer shutoff mode.
