Center Fill Speaker In Instrument Panel Whirs/Clatters / Sound Distorted

If you receive customer reports in the above model vehicles of the center fill speaker (H4/27) in the instrument panel producing whirring, clattering noise
or the sound is distorted, this may be due to vibration in the flap mechanism of the upper defroster outlet or its cover. This distortion noise is especially
detected when listening to music or voice with high pitch on a telephone conversation or a news broadcast. To resolve, follow the procedure below.

Remove the speaker cover. Refer to WIS document AR82.62-P-7833T.

Affix a sufficient amount of felt strips to the housing of the center vent and/or the cover (Figure 1).
