3.

Disconnect connectors (A, Figure 1) from glow plugs (B).

4.

Use compressed air to clean area around glow plugs prior to removing them.

5.

Remove glow plugs.

CAUTION:  

Check the torque of each glow plug prior to removal. If the torque on a glow plug is greater than 25 Nm, bring the engine up to operating
temperature before attempting to remove the glow plug in order to avoid the possibility of breaking it. Figure 1

6.

Clean glow plug recess using brushes from glow plug bore kit (special tool W 900 589 01 99 00).

7.

Install new glow plugs; reassemble in reverse order.

Torque glow plugs to 19 Nm.

8.

Connect Star Diagnosis; read out and erase fault memory.

The noted tool is an MBUSA Required Special Tool; it should already be in every dealer's inventory.
