Compressor/Pump: Service and Repair

AR32.22-P-2001T Remove/Install Compressor

- with CODE (489) AIRmatic (semi-active air suspension)

DANGER

Risk of explosion from hydrogen gas. Risk of poisoning and caustic burns from swallowing battery electrolyte. Risk of injury to eyes and
skin suffering caustic burns from battery electrolyte or from contact with damaged lead acid batteries.

No fire, sparks, open flames or smoking.

-

Wear acid-resistant gloves, clothing and glasses. Pour battery electrolyte only into suitable and appropriately marked containers.

Disconnect ground cable of battery

2.1 Remove bottom section of noise encapsulation at front
2.2 Remove front section of engine compartment paneling

Disconnect pressure line connection (1) from AIRmatic compressor unit (A9/1)

NOTE:  Plug the pressure line with blind plug for the duration of the repair operations.

If pressure line connections or pressure lines are damaged, repair AIRmatic pressure line connection.

Disconnect intake hose from air cleaner (2)

NOTE:  Installation:  If the air cleaner (2) is replaced, the arrow on the air cleaner (2) must point upwards.

Unscrew nuts (arrows) and remove AIRmatic compressor unit (A9/1)

Unplug electrical coupling (A9/1y1) from drain valve

Unplug electrical connector (A9/1x1)

Install in the reverse order

Check AIRmatic for leaks.
