Brake Caliper: Service and Repair
Replacement
Fixed Caliper
1. Screw off brake hose at brake line with open double box wrench, then loosen and remove brake hose from cylinder housing and plug connections
immediately.
2. Disconnect contact sensor at plug connection.
3. On vehicles with ABS, proceed as follows:
a. Remove screw and speed sensor.
4. Remove self-locking bolts from brake carrier.
5. Remove floating or fixed calipers from steering knuckle and secure with hook.
6. Reverse procedure to install, noting following:
a. Bleed front wheel circuit.
b. Check for leakage.
Floating Caliper
1. Screw off brake hose at brake line with open double box wrench, then loosen and remove brake hose from cylinder housing and plug connections
immediately.
2. Disconnect contact sensor at plug connection.
3. On vehicles with ABS, proceed as follows:
a. Remove screw and speed sensor.
4. Remove self-locking bolts from brake carrier.
5. Remove floating or fixed calipers from steering knuckle and secure with hook.
6. Reverse procedure to install, noting following:
a. Bleed front wheel circuit.
b. Check for leakage.
Rear
1. Screw off brake hose at brake line with open double box wrench, then loosen and remove brake hose from cylinder housing and plug connections
immediately.
2. On vehicles with ASR, disconnect contact sensor plug connection.
3. Remove self-locking bolts from brake carrier.
4. Remove fixed caliper from wheel carrier and secure with hook.
5. Reverse procedure to install, noting following:
a. Bleed rear wheel brake circuit.
b. Check for leakage and test.
