Load Compartment Cover Drive Does Not Switch Off After Reaching Upper or Lower End Position and Makes an Objectionable Noise
If you receive customer reports in the above model vehicles that the load compartment cover drive does not switch off after reaching the upper or
lower end position, it is possible that when the guide rail for the load compartment cover was installed the hose was twisted (Figure 1 incorrect) on
the guide sleeve for the helical shaft. In this case, the crimped portion of the clamp for the hose points towards the D-pillar. This prevents the drive
pinion from optimally engaging in the helical shaft. When the end position of the load cover is reached, the current draw of the drive motor, which
should be high for a brief moment and serves as the signal to de-energize the drive motor, is not generated and the motor then continues to run for
an additional 20 seconds. During this 20 second run on period, the owner generally hears an objectionable noise and may report that condition. In
this case, it will be necessary to replace the motor and drive assembly for the load compartment cover.
1.
Remove guide rails for the load compartment cover on the left and right sides. Refer to WIS Document AR68.30-P-4495T.
