Corrosion in the area of handle strip (Figure 1).

1.

Remove handle strip. Refer to WIS document AR72.20-P-3650T.

2.

Clean corrosion from damaged areas and grind down damage (wire brush, sand); if necessary, sand blast.

3.

Clean prepared areas (silicone remover).

4.

Paint tailgate underneath window (observe work instructions from the relevant paint supplier).

5.

Install new handle strip with scuff guard (A211 740 04 93 handle, A211 987 00 20 scuff guard).

6.

Apply wax preservation agent, use application gun SATA HRS 9795 Rust Protection Gun part number (319-SAT-9795) on inside of tailgate in
area of handle strip and laser weld.

7.

Install remaining parts on tailgate.

SATA HRS 9795 Rust Protection Gun (for application of wax preservation agent) part number 319-SAT-9795 can be found on Star Tekinfo

Condition / Remedy 2: 

Corrosion in the area of the laser weld seam (Figure 2).

1.

Remove handle strip. Refer to WIS document AR72.20-P-3650T.

2.

Clean corrosion from damaged areas and grind down damage (wire brush, sand); if necessary, sand blast.

3.

Clean prepared areas (silicone remover).

4.

Prime areas.

5.

Apply paintable body sealer (part number A001 989 63 20) to laser weld.

6.

Rub down body sealer (observe manufacturer specifications for drying time).
