Voice Activation System: Description and Operation

Circuit 30g ON

The designation "audio equipment" is used for the following control units, which are installed depending on the equipment:

Radio with auto pilot system (A2/56) (with code (511) Audio 50 APS incl. DVD changer)

-

COMAND controller unit (A40/3) (with code (527) COMAND APS with single DVD drive (with navigation) or with code (512) COMAND APS
with DVD changer)

Voice control, general

The individual functions of the driver information system are called up and operated via the voice control system (VCS [SBS]). The voice control system
is integrated into the audio equipment. The system can be controlled by voice by spelling out or entering complete words.
The voice control can be activated or deactivated using the following buttons on the multifunction steering wheel (MFL):

Voice control system ON button (S111s4)

-

"Back" and voice control system OFF button (S110s4)

The control signal of the voice control system ON button is forwarded via the following components to the audio equipment:

Direct line

-

Steering wheel electronics (N135)

-

Steering LIN (LIN E1)

-

Steering column module control unit (N80)

-

Chassis CAN (CAN E)

-

Instrument cluster (A1)

-

Interior CAN (CAN B)

Voice input takes place via the hands-free system microphone (A67b1), which is connected to the audio equipment via a direct line. The spoken word is
converted into an electrical signal via the hands-free system microphone and forwarded to the audio equipment and, on vehicles with code (810) Sound
system, to the sound system amplifier control unit (N40/3).

Voice output is emitted at the following speakers:

Center dashboard speaker (H4/27)

Left front door sound system tweeter (H4/68)

-

Right front door sound system tweeter (H4/69)

Left front door sound system midrange and bass speakers (H4/72)

-

Right front door sound system midrange and bass speakers (H4/73)

On vehicles without code (810) Sound system, the voice output takes place via direct lines directly by the audio equipment over the following speakers:

Left front door speaker (H4/1)

-

Left front door tweeter (H4/1h1)

-

Right front door speaker (H4/2)

Right front door tweeter (H4/2h1)
